US vs PI: Job Requirements

Trying to find suitable jobs here in the US, I have noticed the difference in job requirements here as compared to those in the Philippines.

I know of some (and even worked for one) big companies in the Philippines that do not only value educational attainment so much but also determine an applicant's position in their company though the reputation of the college or university where he got his degree.

On the other hand, companies here in the US do not always place educational attainment on top of work experience and certifications when they are looking for employees. Basically, setting the current status of the economy aside, anyone who had finished high school can choose to apply for any job and qualify.

For information technology professionals who specialize in computer networking, you can take advantage of the demand in your field of work by getting your CCNA Certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and making yourself a hot item in the market.

well the education system in USA is far better than what we have here in the Phils. so a high school education in USA is enough to get a good job.

In my opinion, finishing high school in the US may ensure getting a job but not necessarily a good career. I mean high school grads usually take the simpler jobs. The bigger ones may require certifications & experience aside from the college degree.

And sometimes it's not just the quality of education that matters, it's what the student actually learned. ;p
