bluefly.com

The internet is a huge space where it's easy to get lost. I'm really bad at directions and when I get lost, I'm often caught around shopping sites. LOL! Today, I got lost and found myself wandering at bluefly.com (blame Project Runway).

I wanted to check out some shoes but I have little luck when buying shoes here because my size is often too small; some brands don't even make shoes in my size at all. So I just eyed some bags. Fendi bags and other designer shoes and accessories at marked-down prices abound in this fashion haven.

I'm afraid I have to cut this short, I have to find my way home before dinner... Ta ta! ;p

back to normal

My blogging was momentarily interrupted by the need to clean up in preparation for my husband's week-long leave from work (just so we can trash the house again for the entire week). I felt different as I was cleaning. - Different from how I felt a month ago. I did not go into the details of my dilemma, but last month I was down, sad, somewhat uninterested, disappointed. I even lost my appetite for shopping for our household needs, imagine that? - Today I was feeling hopeful and settled. As I cleaned the house, I did not feel like I'm about to leave it. And began thinking of stuff to buy again. ;p

The living room and the kitchen in our apartment is separated by what I would consider a breakfast bar (had it not been built too high for the average Asian) and while I was dusting and reorganizing that area (it's a display area), my mind wandered and I imagined using it as it was intended. But we're going to need bar stools. We do have one made of wood; it needs a partner or two more friends. So I went back to the computer and searched for similar Wood Bar Stools. I went to the aptly named The Bar Stools Store (dot com); unfortunately, I didn't find anything close to the one we have; probably because it's too simple. Out of the numerous, well-crafted Metal Bar Stools, this one (right photo) caught my attention. I fancy the sleek design and the color contrast. It also looks very comfortable with those armrests.

With the store's vast selection, you're bound to love at least one design. But if that's not the case, the store offers full customization, you can change the height, the fabric and the metal or wood finishes to your liking. There's an ongoing sale and this particular bar stool is 34% off, plus an additional 15% discount at checkout, no sales tax and free shipping.

How much would you spend on eyeglasses?

Yesterday, hubby and I spent time together at home (he had to do homework, remember?). The sun was as bright as my mood, so I decided to finish my stitching project which has been lying somewhere for almost half a year. Nearing the afternoon though, my eyes began to hurt, so I wore my glasses. I don't know what happened to them but they didn't fit me perfectly anymore. I'm not sure if I can get it fitted more snugly or readjusted for free. I have to look for more information on that and for the receipt.

Meanwhile, since I pretty much do most of my shopping online, I scouted for cheap eyeglasses. Hey, if readjusting my glasses would be so expensive, then getting a cheaper, new pair might be more practical, right? I know Zenni optical offers cheap (as low as $8 a pair) yet trendy eyeglasses. I don't wear my eyeglasses a lot, so designer brands are not really my thing. I would be perfectly happy with a pair from Zenni. They just have to fit me well, last a long time and look good on me. The fact that I can get them for a lot less than my first pair is a bonus.

Are you wondering why they offer their glasses at such low prices? Well, for one, the glasses are made in China; they're of high quality though. And they're shipped straight from the factory, so Zenni saves by not needing to pay for retailers. They sell on the internet and advertise on the internet. Here's an honest review from an actual customer: http://www.examiner.com/x-28795-Brooklyn-Liberal-Examiner~y2009m11d13-Cheap-eyeglasses-are-a-reality-Check-out-Erics-review-of-Zenni-Optical . I don't know about you, but testimonials and customer reviews are the best advertising tools that work for me. Like that review, it's not meant to only promote the product, it also informs potential customers of what to expect, it also presents the cons of ordering from Zenni that you can all use to decide whether it is for you or not.

Yee-haw!

Since I have already touched the topic of moving to another base, I am thinking where I want us to be transfered. Let me see...

I really want to travel to other countries, I think Japan or Germany would be nice. But I am not sure if it is just traveling I want or if living elsewhere is also good for me. Those are totally different things. And at this point in our marriage, I think I may not be ready to say goodbye to all the furniture and stuff that my husband and I bought together - which would be necessary because we can not fly carrying everything with us - so NO.

How about to another state? If I were to choose a state, I would choose Hawaii. Great food, great beaches, great people. It would be like a vacation! But remembering the volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis, NO. Great.

I'm thinking maybe, Texas? Hubby spent a few years in Texas by himself and is probably well-adapted to it. I want to experience how he lived there before. And he has a few Pinoy friends who are still stationed there. We can maybe go to some NASA museum and relive that field trip we had back in high school when our love was just starting to blossom (super cheesy!). Plus I heard that the rodeo is quite an experience, so we gotta try that. There's this site that sells Houston Rodeo Tickets that has a price range starting as low as $42 up to $590. Quite pricey, but aside from the fun that I would be having with my man, (you know, rodeos are man stuff, most ladies are just there to be loving and supportive) we could see live performances from cool artists; like on March 18, they're gonna have the Black Eyed Peas! That's not bad, huh?!
*sings* I got a feeling...

But if you ask me, I'm happy where I am right now... Bro, no abrupt change of plans, please. ;p

Three Wishes

And one penalty! My entry for Topical Tuesday this week, #33 ---

One day, whilst out walking, you discover a small gold lantern(?) lay on the ground. You quickly pocket it and head home believing that, just maybe, it’s valuable. Turns out during rubbing, it’s actually cheap as it chips, but during one session of particularly aggressive rubbing, a genie pops out and shouts, “Enough already, now I have a damn headache.” After a great deal of bartering, he grants you three wishes and one penalty.

What would your three wishes be? What would be your penalty?

(FYI: Your penalty must be of significant enough magnitude to warrant the three wishes – or the Genie will deny them!)

My three wishes would be:
(1) that my husband does not get deployed anymore (ever, if possible)
(2) that we can fulfill ALL our plans for this year (graduation, homecoming, baby/ies, grand birthday, green card, driver’s license)
(3) that we win the lottery and never have financial problems for as long as we live (hurrah!)

My penalty would be:
Since I wished for my husband not to be deployed, the next worse thing maybe is for us to transfer to another base. That’s a huge deal for us. Even if we can hire Moving Companies Los Angeles or the like, there would still be much work to be done. We’ll be away from everybody that we have here. Well, that’s the penalty I can bear. I don’t want a penalty where someone else has to suffer.

*** Did a little editing here, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Thanks, Topical Tuesday! Gotta love memes!

off days ;p

I'm sort of excited that hubby is taking a few days off starting tomorrow, and more next week because he has to prepare for some tests, and on the day of our anniversary, of course. I say "sort of" because we may not be going out on dates this week though, since he has a lot going on in school and all.

I just wish we can visit the post office to pick up that delivery. I talked about it some time last week (click here). As I am overly excited for its arrival, this happens: It was delivered while we were out of the house and was not left at the apartment office, so now I have to book an appointment in my husband's busy, busy schedule for him to take me to the post office. Argh! Plus I have to mail these hair accessories to my dear friend Eymi in New York! Obviously, she did a great job flattering me by asking that I crochet headbands for her! I'm so easy to please like that, all I ask for in return is a picture of her wearing them. *wink* She just arrived about a month ago and she just passed her board examination, so this is a welcome gift and a congratulatory gift as well! (Sorry, Eymi that I had to show this to everyone who stumbles upon my blog before you could even wear them, I hope you don't mind!)

best Runway night to date

Great Thursday night it was for me because Jay Nicolas Sario, our Filipino pride on Project Runway, did it again. He just won the Hard Wear challenge, this time making couture out of garbage bags. I'm sad whenever the judges think his works are mediocre. Somehow Jay excels in the most difficult of challenges, amazing! Here's a video courtesy of mylifetime.com:

And then after that, Alexis (I call her Avatar! meanie me!) was eliminated! Yay! I hate that girl's guts; she's overconfident and arrogant and meaner than me, haha! Just Google her or something, I don't want to post a picture or video of her in my blog. Maybe someday she'd realize that karma is a biatch when she's lying on a table for weight loss surgery.

My least favorite designer now is Emilio. He is also smug and cocky. He would have been eliminated last night if he hadn't excelled in a previous challenge. He was still confident after presenting this "thing" that's sooo not for a runway:

Todd Bosley

Here's a clip from Little Giants; the movie that I and my high school BFFs almost memorized (because of Devon Sawa). Look at the little guy who said, "You want intimidation? I'll show you intimidation," and, "So the guys at the morgue can identify the bodies." Yeah, we know those lines by heart; we'd impersonate him every time we needed a good laugh. That feels like ages ago, long before we'd discuss what the best weight loss supplements in the market are and if they actually work. Anyways, here it is:

I saw him again in this advertisement for Skittles. He's still funny! And looks pretty much the same, only bigger. Skittles has crazy ads, love them!
